The Master Golf Classic rolling Premium Cigars Cigars Aficionado
While at the Masters I learned many things and one of the biggest is that membership has its privileges! I spent most of my time at The Lodge on Magnolia. This is where Payne Mason was set up to roll cigars for the entire Green Jacket event. These two very lavish buildings were build only to be open for two weeks out of the year, one of the weeks is the Masters. With staff and handlers that were amazing. There wasn’t a second that your drink wasn’t full or your belly wasn’t being tantalized with some unbelievable food (scratch that Cuisine!) from their world class Chefs at Augusta National.
To top it all off they had a full balcony facing out so we could enjoy our cigars with everyone around us. Like always I see every shape, sex, and size enjoying cigars, but this time we had pairings like no other. When I arrived on Saturday (I was a few days late because I was supposed to be in Barbados and the Masters just happened to be a great replacement!) the party oh I mean “event” was already a few days into the swing of things. But when I walked in the door I was greeted with a full bodied Maduro and I had a feeling for a Bloody Mary (Three Olives please!). One might think this an odd combination but not at all! The spice of the fresh tomato juice concoction with Vodka really lit up the cigar. I was really amazed at how great these two paired, at 8:30AM, so much I introduced this to a few of my new friends and after the first round everyone was hooked and a new pairing was in full swing! And I notice this pairing show up even late in the day and evening. Now I can only imagine what kind of stampede I would have created if it was a Clamato Ceaser (for all my Canadian friends), but that is for another day.
I also noticed that there was a small out door cigar table at the gates and I looked thru their cigars and wow they were all torn up and horribly humidified. Comes back to the care of your cigars in any climate that is why they should have had a travel humidified box and long leaf tobacco leaves covering their cigars even in the show boxes. Anybody who purchased those cigars were in for a rude awakening as soon as they had a blow out near the 6th tee box as Phil rocked a great drive. So if you don’t have a travel humidor make sure you get one.

I can promise you all that when it comes to a spicy cigar wrapper you can get a bit crazy with your drink and food pairings. So go for it no matter where you are at the Masters, or just kicking it with some friends in the back yard! I would love to hear of some of your pairings…at info@TheAficionadoLifestyle.com or find me on my Facebook fan page The Aficionado.
